How to Take a Heart Girth Measurement
Whether your choose to go with a standard girth that is included with the price of the saddle you are buying, or choosing another Aussie girth send us a heart girth measurement for your horse and saddle.
To take a heart girth measurement, note where an Australian saddle will sit on your horse when properly positioned. The front edge of the saddle will be forward, on the withers, directly above the back edge of your horse's front leg. The red line shows where the front edge of the saddle will be, and is also the location where you should make a wither tracing if you are buying a new saddle. The green line is where you should measure the entire circumference of your horse. It should be where the girth will go, which is about 4 inches behind the red line, or front edge of the saddle. Use a soft or flexible measuring tape to measure the entire distance around your horse at the point of the green line. Send us the measurement, in inches, and we will make sure you receive the proper size girth!
