Myler Bits English Dee with Hooks MB33 The Myler Bits English Dee with Hooks MB33 has a generous wide port that allows ample room for the horse's tongue. It is a D shaped ring with fixed attachment of the mouthpiece and slots "hooks" at the top and bottom of the ring for the bridle and rein attachment. When the rein hook is used it is an indirect action bit. If the rein hook is not used it is direct action. You choose where to attach bridle and reins.
Attaching the headstall to the top hook holds the bit in the correct position instead of allowing it to slide around the bridle cheeks. Attaching the reins to the hooks allows the rider to lift the cheek and use the Independent Side Movement of the mouthpiece. Using hooks does not add leverage. There is a small hole behind the top slot for a curb chain.
Myler Bit Level 3
Stainless Steel 3 3/4" Dee with Hooks with Stainless Steel Ported Barrel (MB 33, Level 3) Copper Inlay Mouth.
The Myler MB33 mouthpiece is the mildest in terms of tongue pressure. The generously wide port allows room for the tongue to pass under the bit so the horse can swallow easily. This mouthpiece works primarily off the bars, lips, chin and poll. There is little to no palate pressure. The MB33 has Independent Side Movement.
A curb chain or strap is recommended for ported mouthpieces.
