MYLER BITS FLAT SHANK MB33
The Myler Bits Flat Shank MB33 with its wide generous port works primarily off the bars, lips, chin and poll. It has very little tongue pressure. It is used in Western riding. It is a 7" length of flat metal curved slightly back towards the horse with a flat-top purchase and a rein ring. The mouthpiece has a fixed attachment and the entire shank moves independently of the mouthpiece. The purchase is angled away from the horse to prevent rubbing. It has an indirect rein action and is designed to be used with a curb strap.
Myler Bit Level 3
Stainless Steel 7" Flat Shank with Sweet Iron Mullen Triple Barrel (MB 32-3, Level 2) Copper Inlay Mouth 5"
This mouthpiece is made of polished Sweet Iron which naturally oxidizes or rusts. Harmless to horses, it has a sweet taste and promotes salivation.
The Myler MB33 mouthpiece is the mildest in terms of tongue pressure. The generously wide port allows room for the tongue to pass under the bit so the horse can swallow easily. This mouthpiece works primarily off the bars, lips, chin and poll. There is little to no palate pressure. The MB33 has Independent Side Movement.
A curb chain or strap is recommended for ported mouthpieces.
