Myler Bits Flat Shank MB16 The Myler Bits Flat Shank MB16 is suitable for reining and western pleasure where you will not be using much rein action. The nice wide port gives the tongue lots of room. It used in Western riding. It is a 7" length of flat metal curved slightly back towards the horse with a flat-top purchase and a rein ring. The mouthpiece has a fixed attachment and the entire shank moves independently of the mouthpiece. The purchase is angled away from the horse to prevent rubbing. It has an indirect rein action and is designed to be used with a curb strap.

Stainless Steel 7" Flat Shank with Sweet Iron Medium Port Wide (MB 16, Level 3) Copper Inlay Mouth. This mouthpiece is made of polished Sweet Iron which naturally oxidizes or rusts. Harmless to horses, it has a sweet taste and promotes salivation.
The generously wide port of the MB16 allows room for the tongue to pass under the bit and swallow. This mouthpiece does not rotate on to the tongue and is so wide, it applies little to no tongue pressure, working primarily off the bars, chin, and poll. This mouthpiece does not offer Independent Side Movement, making it suitable for competing in sports where excessive rein movement is undesirable. (reining, Western pleasure). There is little to no palate pressure.
A curb strap is recommended.
