Barefoot Saddle Pad Inserts - Heavy Duty
The
Heavy Duty Barefoot Saddle Pad Inserts are a great insert where padding needs to be at an optimum. Specifically, for conditions where riding is over extended distances or rough trails. Also recommended for pressure sensitive horses and those that have already had saddle sores.
The edges of these inserts are soft and rounded so they don't create a ridge. Instead, they
taper and flatten at the edges to stop any pressure during long rides.
These pads are designed to distribute weight evenly through a sheet of polyurethane foam rubber, and to absorb pressure. Great cushioning properties at approximately 4/5" thick (.79 inches - 20mm)
Helpful Tip: You should check all your inserts for uneven wear about every 6-12 months and replace them if needed. Click Here for more information on shimming your saddle through the pad!
When should I use additional padding in the saddle pad?
On a large majority of horses the
Barefoot saddle can be used with a pad without
additional pads inside. The saddle can always adjust itself ideally to
the horse's stage of training etc.
It is important that the saddle lays level on the horse when viewed from
the side, meaning that front and rear gullet should be at the same
height. Also when standing right behind the horse though the saddle
should be in balance.
Therefore,
it can sometimes be necessary to insert an additional piece of
rubberfoam in parts of the pad: i.e. in case the horse is higher at the
croup, you simply use a second layer of padding, whereas a horse with
broad shoulders needs a lift-up in the rear.
